REMEMBERING...
CHRISTOPHER QUENTIN MCMULLEN-LAIRD
On the 18th of June 2020, our beloved friend and conductor Christopher Quentin McMullen-Laird sadly passed away.
Christopher meant so much to all members of KCLSO. He was an inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed by everyone. Here is a few remarks about KCLSO's amazing relationship with a very special person...
In the 2019-2020 season, KCLSO welcomed Christopher Quentin McMullen-Laird as our new musical director and conductor, beginning the season with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5. Christopher guest-conducted KCLSO on tour in France in 2019 and he quickly demonstrated a level of expertise and commitment that doesn't come around too often. In June of 2020, Christopher sadly passed away after complications following surgery. Not only did the world loose an amazing musician, but KCLSO lost a treasured friend who was one of the purest souls one would ever have the blessing to meet.
We are a better ensemble, and are better people for having known Christopher.
Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to Chris's husband, Sindre, and the McMullen-Laird Family; please know that KCLSO welcomes you with open arms to all our concerts and social events, and that we hope to work closely with you to ensure the name Christopher Quentin McMullen-Laird is never forgotten.
We are currently collecting anecdotes and happy memories of our time with Christopher, which will be made available here in due course.
We also strongly encourage you to visit the memorial set up for Chris by his family here.
